Was going through the country this afternoon. The engine started to miss a bit sputtered, lurched a bit, seemed starved for fuel then died. Restarted again for 5 seconds the died, will not fire again. And I haven't pushed the issue.

I changed the fuel filter as I carry a spare to no avail. If I open the drain valve and turn her over she pumps fuel on the ground.

So had her flat bedded to my mechanics place were she will sit until Tuesday as it's a holiday weekend up here.

Any ideas fella's would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have read where the FCA (Fuel Control Actuator = regulates fuel to the rail ) can go out. It's on the backside of the CP3.

If you getting fuel to the filter the fuel pump is working. (Another cause of engine dying. )

That really sucks. On a holiday weekend too. First a fist fight with a concrete truck, and your the winner, and now this. Hope the rest of your holiday weekend goes well. I wonder if that concrete truck impact jarred something loose.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I did some research here and read a blurp about the FCA. Didn't even know I had one.

I wouldn't rule out the cement truck incident could have a connection. But I had the dealer check the truck immediately after I got released from the scene. Not that there expertise carries much weight.

Friday afternoon my own regular trustworthy mechanic gave her the once over and only found the ball joints had some extra play again. Not another abnormal mark on her except were the part that hit me exited it put a little dent in the left quarter panel just ahead of the tire. If it probably hadn't the panel it would have punctured the tire.

Anyways just trying to be as well educated as possible for Tuesday morning. I suppose in he world scheme of things the cummins has treated me well. She has 90K on her and except for oil and filter changes I have had to do nothing to the engine. Has ran like a fine tuned Swiss watch the whole time.
