I am looking at doing a Dynatrac or SpynTec Kit on a 06 DRW & 07 SRW Truck. I would like to get some feed back good, bad, or ugly! I have talked with the guy at Spyntec the info he told me sounds good but I haven't noticed it in any sig's on TDR.

Thanks

Lynn

I've got four sets of the Dynatrac free spin kits. Two 35 spline in 2nd gens, and two in third gens. I'd recommend them to just about anyone. My '03 3500 drives much better, and it picked up about 2 mpg. My '06 2500 picked up about the same, but I didn't notice a large difference in steering. Perhaps since it's much lower miles, I don't know. Either way, it makes me feel better about being on the road away from the shop, knowing I'm the one that packed the bearings instead of a Union employee.

You guys that have them... do you have any pics with them installed? How hard was the install? Did you do it yourself or pay? I have done most work on my truck including putting in the twin turbo's, leveling kit ect. Do you need any specialty tools?

Looking at the parts, the SpynTec is all forged. The Dynatrac is cast hub, which doesn't seam as good as the SpynTec quality. Bearings are the same, locking coupler may be personal choice with Dynatrac, Warn or in house Dynaloc. With SpynTec only

MileMarker permium version. But cost between brands is "BIG" about $800. 00.

Thanks

Lynn

I have a 35 spline SpynTec kit on my 04 Ford Moose Buggy. I am running 45" tractor tires on it. I have drive flanges instead of lockout hubs on it. The kit is holding up great to the harsh environment I put it through up here in AK. Mud, water, silt, etc. Not to mention the large tires on a 16" wide rim. I am planning on buying a Spyntec kit for my 05 Dodge when the time is right.

They were a breeze to install. You replace the factory bearings with a spindle, after putting the axles together, put the bearings in the hub, install it and the locking hub. I did the first one in about two hours. They're basically built the same as the old Dodge/Ford/Chevy. Of course there's dust shields and seals to install, but it's not hard at all, in my opinion. If you've installed twin turbo setups, you can do the hub kit. As far as the Dynatrac brand is cast instead of heat treated, only the outer hub is cast, the inner spindle is all high grade, heat treated, machined steel, same as a Dana 60 in millions of other applications. I don't think it will ever be a problem. I've got 40k on my '97, and I've not had any problems. If you go to dynatrac's website, they have installation instructions available online, I believe.

I like the idea of Dynatrac, my question is what do you do with the center hub cap?, I plan on upgrading to a new 3500 this year and want to install them ASAP, but the hub cap has me bugged

I contacted Dynatrac via email, they said the 2009-10 has a diferient hub, and currently they don't make it for the Dually, should be out in a year, something about the front Dually spacers have to be changed

The hub cap is easy. You snap off the little post in the inside center, and use if to drill a pilot hole. Then, with a helper and a drill press, drill from the outside with a 4-1/4" hole saw, using the pilot hole to position the arbor. Doublecheck me on that 4-1/4" before you make the hole.

I put the Spyntec Kit on my 96. I really like it.

They use Warn lockouts.

I second the idea, I like it that I packed the bearings, Not some ... ... ... ... ... . ;)

I have had the SpynTec hubs on my '04 since July or August '08 and have been pleased with their performance, but I learned the hard way that wheel cleaner shouldn't be used on these hubs... . Apparently, I removed the factory finish or protection that was on the hubs.....

Now the part of the hub that is exposed through the center cap is all rusty and needs to be painted... ... definitely not aesthetically pleasing... . However, the rest of the hub that isn't exposed to the elements and was not subjected to wheel cleaner looks fine... .

I've installed both kits, both kits have small advantages and dis-advantages. The kit on my truck is a DYnatraxx 115,000 miles and going strong. .

the only complaint I have on my Spyntec kit that is on my FOrd Buggy is that the hub seals are not the same as the standard Dana 60 ones found in older Fords and Chevy's. I could not find the seal anywhere up here and had to order them from Spyntec directly, not really conveinient. So I am on the fence which way to go for the Dodge because parts availability is important to me in AK.

On the DYNATRAXXX kit the speed sensor is open and exposed, the other kit it's enclosed but this makes the Hub stick out a bit further. The Spyntec kit was fully assembled, I'm not a fan of someone else packing the bearings and setting the bearing per-load. Don't get me wrong all the kits are a good step up from the hub bearing asy that the truck came with. But I felt that the cust. support from DYNATRAXX was much better. My friend and I were both some of the first people to have done these up-grades on our trucks way back when and the kits were shipped with wrong parts (in my case the 30 spline locking hubs and in my friends case the kit was mising a bearring wich I had to locate. ) If I had the extra money I'd do the shorty hubs that DYANATRAXXX now offers just so they don't stick out.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me... . are you able to estimate about how much wider the Spyntech is compared to the DynaTrax shorty kit??
