square opening in dash?

I had my dash/gage cluster out today, playing with the radio, and useless speedo. Noticed that there is a square cut out just to the left of the 'information center' any one have an idea what that is used for, from the factory?



I am thinking of putting a westech Pyro/boost gage in there. but if the factory has some really neat gage or something that is supposed to go there, on appropriately equipped truck's I will find another place for my gages to go.

If we're talking about the same thing, it's where the 4wd indicator light goes.

You may have to do some trimming to get a Westech pyro/boost combo to fit. It should have a flat plate on your 2wd. If not, stick the gauge in there.

That square spot would be for A/C ducting.

it is for the 4WD indicator(if equipped). It is a blank almost louvered looking thing on the 2WD's.
