Squeak in dash - new steering column

A 6 month frustration has finally ended. After trying everything else,including all your suggestions guys, they finally replaced the steering column and admitted they had a lot of problems with their squeaking.

Inoticed on your signature you have a sound blanket,percentage wise how much would you say it reduced cab noise,i,m interested in getting one . Where & how much? Was the noise you had in your steering column consistent or intermitent ,cos ialso have an annoying itermittent noise. Thanks in advance. Ian

It would take 30 to 45 minutes to start and they is was continuos with every bump in the road.
The sound blankets reduced the engine noise by 25%. There is quite a complete review I did under "Product Reviews - Members".

I got this squeeeck when ever I turn the wheel right or left and hit any little bump in the road. Doesnt squeeck at all driving straight and it drives me nuts. Is this what was happening to you?

My 98 had that sqeak. While changing the fuel filter I accidently dumped fuel on the u-joint. The squeak stopped. After that I started giving it a little squirt of WD40 and it never came back. Now on my 01, I give it a little lube as part of my oil change service. No squeak.

No my squeek is coming from the inside of the truck.

I thought mine was inside the truck also. It was very noticeable on slight turns. It started as a slight occasional thing and got to the point where it was very irritating. I was banging on the column and dash and noticed that it would only do it when the truck was moving.

I've been there done that after 6 months of aggravation. I went to Carson Dodge and they used a spray lithium grease on the steering shaft in the engine bay right on the u-joint. Try it works... .

Really? hmmm never would have guessed, ill try it. If I didnt crank my stereo so much id probly would go crazy listening to that squeeck.
