I developed a sqeak in the drivers side front wheel. It only occurs when I put the 4x4. The squeak varies with the speed I drive. No squeck when the 4x4 is unlocked. Any idea's?

Check your universal joints at the wheel and front driveshaft, if they are ok jack up front and check wheel bearing but i doubt if that is it because it is only doing it in 4 wheel drive.

It shouldn't be the wheel joints because they spin all the time. The front shaft will spin when enguaged in fwd since it should have the axle disconnect. If it is a front shaft joint it shold have a squeak that is faster than wheel speed since the shaft spins 3. 5 times quicker than the tires depending on axle gear ratio.

Same squeak started with me and traced it down to the front driveshaft. Have to replace the u joints, a lot of play in them.
