I have been looking a squeak on my 02 quad cab, I thought it was coming from the dash or winshield. So I have reinstalled the glass, pulled the dash and I thought I may have located the noise at the metal bracket on firewall right behind the steering wheel, thought the plastic was squeaking there. No noise still there, In the summer I dont hear it as much, in the winter/cold I hear it all the time! I cant drown it out with the radio and it drives me nuts! Being that its more noticeable when cold makes me think its metal or body related? Im almost certain its coming from in front of me, but who really knows. Any thoughts?

My 01 did that. It was the universal joint on the steering shaft up by the fuel filter.

I found it after looking all over everything for about three months. I was changing the filter one day and spilled fuel on the u-joint right at the firewall. The squeak disappeared.

After that, I lubed it with at every oil change and wiped off the excess. No more squeak.

mine does a similar thing too. the squeek is pretty quiet and i can drown it out with the radio, but it still bothers me. mine however only seems to do it when i'm in a slightly left at speed like on a curvy highway or something. i'm almost certain its in the cab, but i could be wrong. sounds like its down by my left foot or something. i dunno, can't find it

I had the exact same thing and could not find it for years. Finally figured out it was the transmission linkage comming down from the firewall rubbing in and out of a bushing under the floor boards. Sprayed some lube on it and have not heard it since.

Its definately not the steering or colum, driving straight on the highyway bodyroll will make it happen. I have heard of this TSB for the pilar area wich is where I think its coming from. I have also noticed in the area of the pilar with the door open I can see a factory seam that apears to moving. The spot weld is in place but the seam sealer looks like its moving a bit. Ill check For that TSB

I had a similar problem for months in my '99. After threatening to pull the dash out. . by accident, I noticed my shocks had not been changed for a long time. . never! After changing them. . the "clicking" noise under the dash on the right side disappeared. The noise transfer was incredible. Hope this helps.

My truck has a squeek coming from the upper control arm. It stops temporarily if I spray silicone on it, but I'm sure the only way to get it to stop for good is to replace the bushings.

I to had a squeak that I could not find. I thought it was coming from the dash drivers side pillar. I also found the TSB on the dash squeek. I took to the dealer and they replaced the lower steering shaft and the squeak is gone. That was 20000 miles ago. The point I'm making is I was convinced it was in the dash because when I hit some bumps big or small it would squeak. If I moved he steering wheel back and forth it wouldn't squeak at all. Tracking a squeak down can be tough. I suppose if you lubricate the u-joints on the steering column would answer if its the column. Good Luck.
