Whenever I get up to the mountains around Lincoln Montana I usually end up with a squeal coming from the front end after a day or two. It usually starts when I apply the brakes and then intermittently as I drive slowly down the gravel/dirt roads or after it starts as I go down paved roads. Once I get out on the highway back to eastern Montana it no longer squeals. Is this just dust getting on the pads causing the squeal or something I should be concerned about? I have about 111000 miles on the truck but most of it (90+%)on highway so do not think the brakes are close to being gone. Anyone else ever have this problem? Makes it real hard to sneak up on animals LOL.

There is supposed to be an Anti-Rattle spring on the inboard pad. If came off or was not installed the brake pads will make a clinking noise like tapping a glass with a spoon while driving over rough roads. It's just annoying.

Most brake pads have a sqeak tab built in. When the pad wears dwon to the tab, it sqeaks to let you know it's time to change 'em befor you get to the rivets. Check and make sure you have pad left. If you do, the springs may be worn and need replaced, and permatex and others make an antirattle paste to put behind the pads to keep them from vibrating, if that's what they're doing...
