New 5'er Floor Plans....Not happy with choices

RS 9000 X Shocks/Anti-sway bars?

When I have a load on my 97 2500 I'm getting all kinds of squeaking from around the rear springs. Researching previous posts show there was a service bulletin for this, but I can't get to the link. Does any know what the repair might be or have any ideas. Thanks

It's your overload springs rubbing on the frame mounted plastic overload spring bump stops. My previous '97 and my '00 did the same thing. I went to Home Depot and bought plumbers connectors (I don't remember the size, but I think it was 3"x 4"). Slide them over the plastic overload bump stops and tighten the clamps and no more sqeaking. The plumbers conectors will last a long time.

I had the same problem

Mine did the same thing, really bad. I just took a sawzall and cut off the stock material that covered the overload stops. It is kind of a rubber/plastic substance. Fixed it, no worries. Only difference I noticed is that you can hear the overloads make contact with the stops on big potholes when you are empty. Other than that, no worries, no fuss. Bob V deserves the credit for that idea, by the way, I was going to rig up something like Bill is describing originally. Hope this helps!

Thanks to all !!!

Thanks for everyone's help. This is the first time I used this bulletin board, now that I'm signed up it won't be the last. Thanks again.

Another question, how do you get your truck information added at the bottom of your post?

I have not noticed any squeaking noise's, but if I hit a uneven patch of road or slight bump I get a popping or clunk noise from the rear. At first I though it was the drop in bedliner that dealership put in raising and popping the bed when I hit a bump, but have removed it serveral months ago and still have the pop or clunk. I guess this is the overloads hitting the stops.

Bill, if I go to Home Depot and ask for "plumbers connectors" am I going to get the blank stare or is there another name for this product. I can't picture in my mind what there going to look like in case they say decribe what your talking about to us.

Ditto on the Home Depot plumbing connectors this was annoying to be going thru a campground with fifth wheel and the squeeking everyone would look at my truck like something was wrong with it. They are rubber and they are for joining two pieces of pipe together. They come with two hose clamps.

Tony,

The overload spring bump stops on the 3rd gen trucks are made of different material than on the 2nd gens. I haven't had the problem with the OEM bump stops squeaking on my '03 like I had on the previously owned '97 and '00 trucks. I have changed out my OEM bump stops for a different reason.

No, I don't think you'll get the "deer in the headlights" look if you ask in Home Depot about plumbers connectors if you are lucky and get someone who knows plumbing supplies. The plumbers connectors are a grey vinyl type connector for connecting two drain pipes together like under the kitchen sink. They have a screw type clamp on each end. The connectors slide over the bump stop and tighten the screw clamps and you're good to go.
