2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Squek from under dash?

I have owned 4 Dodge Ram's with the Cummins and 3 of the 4 have had a squeak that seems to come from under the dash area. I have also driven several other peoples trucks and heard the same thing. I can't seem to locate it. It seems to be more pronounced at slow speeds (this may because of the low cabin noise at these speeds). It also seems to happen more on uneven terrain like speed bumps. My wife can't take it anymore.



Anyone else have this problem?

Yep, Can't find it. I was thinking it might be in the steering column bracket, When I pull down on the steering wheel while driving it gets quieter. Will check it out this afternoon when it gets cooler. Too hot out now

I too have an incredibly annoying squeak. Seems to be coming from the glove box area..... nothing in the box but I am about to tear out the whole freakin' dash!

Remove the knee panel under the steering wheel and put a little silicone grease on each of the spring catches.

If they are automatic trucks like mine it was the shifter linkage from the steering column to the transmission. I used a little spray litium grease on the pivot points and the squeeks went away.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the front sway bar resonating up into the cabin. Had to grease the bushings.

been there done that... . my truck was in the shop for a week they could not find it. I DID though..... its the pinch welds!! get a long punch, screw driver and hammer... . go in from the kick panel area and the outside betweeen the door hinges and from top below the hood hinges. just need to dent distort the areas at the pinch welds. . do a search on pinch welds

It's the transfer case selector lever on my truck. I posted something a few days ago about this but couldn't find it. I've tried various silicone sprays around the boot area and it helped... along with actually shifting the lever through its full selection range. If you hear the squeek, wiggle the transfer case **** lever. You'll be able to tell right away.

what spring catches? i will try this if i can find them as i have somethign like this
