What 5th Wheels with opposing slides?

When did dodge start a 3500 SRW. My son is looking at a 2000 and told me it was a 3500 with single rear wheels. I thought they started in 03. This truck is a rebuild from a wreck and may be a 3500 with a new bed and 2500 wheels. What do you guys think?

Thanks

You are correct, Sir. 2003 was the first year for the SRW. The truck your son is looking at didn't come from the factory as a SRW.

Mike

Thanks for your reply ,but you and I must be wrong. I went and looked at the truck this morning and it is a 2001 3500 SRW. It has the same amount of springs as my 3500, and the door sticker is on it and states it's 3500. It has 235R85/16 tires on it like my old Ferd. It's a nice looking truck.

It wouldn't be that hard to swap the bed and change the rear axle over to a single rear wheel. Check the vin number with a dealer for the build sheet. I don't there ever being a 3500 srw from the factory for the second gens.

Before I offend our 1st Gen pals, there were some D350 SRWs.

As far as 2nd Gens, 2500s with the camper package will have the overload springs and rear swaybar, so the springs will look like those from a 3500.

It sounds to me like someone has:

1. Put a 3500 cab on a 2500 frame (no diff between a 1500, 2500 or 3500 cab - just the door jamb stickers, VIN tag and emblems on the doors)

or

2. Put a SRW bed(1500 or 2500) and single wheels on a 3500.

Good luck.

Mike

Checked the VIN and it's good, according to DMV. I bet he did change the cab. I've seen trucks that he has done before and he has said he'll use the cab from one total and put it on another chassis. Thanks for waking me up.

pm me the vin I can tell you how it was built from the factory, then you will be able to tell what changes if any were made.
