Well 98 Rammer your host site doesn't seem to allow much bandwidth. . . I get the ol' "The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer" error message :(

stacks are a totally different animal... I just removed my 5" stacks and replaced them with a straight 5" system... the stacks have a much "cleaner" sound and a lot less resonance.

if you can afford the room in the bed GO FOR IT, there's no sweeter sound!!! :D

I took my first set of stacks off for about 3 months... ... then decided I took them off for all the wrong reasons and promptly installed another set. This set will NOT be coming off anytime soon. Oo.

well, I put a resonator on the other day, and now it's quieter/cleaner than it was with the stacks... but I definately miss the stacks!! :(

Just how far above the cab were your stacks, and what type of stacks were they?

5" turnouts set at a 45* angle. they only exited about 10" above the cab. I've got a single cab. don't get me wrong, they were humming on the highway... the straight 5" wasn't so bad, but in the 2300-2400 range, it started making some serious noise, and at 2500, it felt like someone was taking an ice pick to your ear drums!

with the resonator, it's calmed down quite a bit... still some resonance at 2500, but nothing the radio at a sane level won't drown out.

I miss the stacks, but not enough to put them back on at this point... next time I do that, it'll be a single stack on the passenger side.

2500RPM on the interstate? Either you have 4. 10 gears or your running in excess of 80MPH.

I've got 33" tires (I know your is 2wd) and 3. 55 gears, but I'm @ 2K RPM @ 70MPH. Mine are about 6-7" above the cab (regular cab) turnouts 45'd like yours. Mine just seem to hum & they are straightpiped.

But peoples opinions vary. Just curious

don't know how you guys drive where you're from, but here in Texas, we've got a lot of land to cover!! :D 80-85mph is just a leisurely Sunday drive...

80mph is about as fast as I'll run on the interstate. Any faster than that around here and you'll be SOL sooner or later when you recieve your driving award. ;) :-laf

Hey akdiesel since Forrest and I kinda stole you thread I'll see if I can't get a buddy of mine to volunteer to ride in the bed with the digital camera. Would a 60 sec. film/sound clip be long enough?

you'll get run off the road if you drive much slower than 70 in DFW...

I really don't drive that fast on the open road, but when you've gotta pass, well... you know how quick these trucks can go from 75-85 :D and I'm tellin' ya, the resonance was so bad that even a second or two at that RPM had to be causing permanent hearing loss!!!!!

Hey Got Smoke that would be great! But I'm gonna weld her up and put the single 5 incher on this weekend but I'm still interested! My wife is p&&^% at me for doin this as we ain't got the money but what the hey. I'll take some pictures of the individual pieces before I weld'em up. F. Y. I. I'm building a 5 incher out of a 10' piece of aluminized exhaust pipe because my warehouse doesn't stock stacks plus I'm on a tight budget, the pipe was only about $60 my cost, gonna hit it with high heat black paint so the South East lock tight (rust) doesn't attack them!

man, you're gonna LOVE the single stack... it's gonna sound awesome, and the turbo will probably spool up quicker with the removal of the cork... er... I mean flowmaster (not a good design for turbocharged applications)

no, that's RBallard's truck. yeah, i don't think that site can tolerate a lot of downloads in one day.

i don't think i could send them because they're a little too big...
