Will somebody break down the theory behind this with cummins? Why cant one programmer do it? What are the benefits and whats it doing to the ECM? Please enlighten me! Thanks

I don't know so I asked my mechanic at Texas diesel performance, he told me this first started when different programers did different things, now the good programers are versitile and sophisticated enough that you really don't need to stack anymore unless you're racing, etc. This is his answer, I don't really know.

I'm sure someone will chime in with better technical info than this. But here's my take. I have the Edge Comp which adds timing and fools the ECM into allowing the engine to fuel, and boost without much constriction. It also taps the VP and adds more power that a down loader can't.

My Smarty down loader can alter ECM timing, boost, and fueling to a certain extent. The Comp works with the Smarty to add even more fuel than the Smarty can add alone. The Comp kind of hijacks and alters the ECM commands to the engine and also hijacks the engine info going back to the ECM.
