Stacking similar programmers and boxes?

I've always read and been told you can't stack a box that does timing/duration with a programmer that does timing/duration. And it generally makes sense. But it's blown out the window now with guys stacking the HotJuice along with Diablosport's Predator and making good power. Can someone explain this?
