Ive got a single 5" chrome stack I put on my truck a few weeks ago, just got the B&W turnover ball in last week. Now that im done cuttin on my bed, its time for a bedliner. I was wondering if the bedliner could be sprayed around the stack to seal the hole and if the stack would melt the liner? If so how bad and what do you recomend to seal the hole and get a neat clean look with the bedliner. Planning on Rhino if it makes any difference. Thanks

Hot

How hot does the stack get?

Most spray liners are plastic. I had mine done with some racks to mount side boxes (for work). The racks were made before I thought about spraying the bed. They would not fit with the thickness of the spray liner and I want them removable. So I masked the mount areas. They gave me some special tape with a wire in it that cut the spray liner. It is removed or pulled right after the spray is applied while it is still drying. Cuts right the stuff. Regular masking would not have worked.

Well I run duals and they are right next to the doors (outside the flatbed on a RC). So I check them for heat quite often. And my chrome stacks have never gotten hot enough that they would melt anything. And I have run from KC to Columbia SC non stop and loaded with a 5k lb trailer. So with that said you shouldnt have any problem putting spray liner around or almost on it to help clean up the area's apperance.

I too have my stacks on the outside next to the cab and am using a rubber hose over a U bolt to hold them in place. I just got back from a run to Pheonix AZ then to Vegas and back pulling a 40 foot flatbed trailer with a 64 Imperial, about 5000 LBS in stripped form, and a 77 New Yorker, at about 6500 LBS. The trailer weighed about 7000 empty and nothing went into melt down so you should be okay.

Line-x and I think most other spray ins are made with some type of cyanocrylate (super glue) formula, they are very quick drying. don't think there is any plastic in these. expensive though

Steve,

Ya gonna do a little damage to some other carsOo. My neighbor payed for my trip down there to pick up the cars for him, his 3/4 Chevy is not big enough to pull the trailer:rolleyes: So he had to find someone with a real truck to pull it:D I help him build the cars and then play pit crew on race day.

my 8" stack was mounted after the bedliner was sprayed in and it sets approximately 1" from the rail and my stack gets real hot and i have had no problems there or where it goes through the bed. just my 2 cents worth!
