Competition Stacks - DHRA - TurnOuts Allowed?

Ordering the stacks this week. DHRA says the exhaust has to be up or down -- so does that eliminate the option of a stack with a turnout? I don't want the stack filling with water when it rains...



There's another post on this and the replies say a turn out is OK. Eric? What's the scoop?

Exhaust

The rules say vehicles running rich, emitting vast amounts of soot must have exhaust directed upward and/or rearward.



The reason for this is the soot effects the starting line sensors and could cause an incorrect or nonexistent reading on the clock/timer.



Turnout Stacks are mostly fine and so are most rear exit exhaust systems. Use discretion with this rule. If you know your truck will Black-Out the lights, address the issue ahead of time.

I think Andy addressed your question, as the rule reads upward and/or, stacks direct exhaust upward.

Looks like I'll be going with the slight turn-out; I have noticed even with the turn-out the exhaust is still mostly upward; thanks for the clarification.
