Happy!! New TST Owner....

When I am towing the boat, I need to use the stock tail pipe... the stacks are making a mess out of the boat. Does anybody have any ideas on how to adapt another Y-pipe under the truck with a selector for the stacks or dump the exhaust under the truck?

I think if a feller had to have both he could put another Y in for the side delivery keeping all 3 outlets open and then simply plug the unwanted outlet or outlets with those rubber sewer blowup style plugs, I have used those many times and in service of high heat >500* with no problems, they make the plugs in many different sizes, I know that my stacks dont run too hot at all even after a hard tow.

Cheers, Kevin

I have seen cable opperated "cutouts" that allow you to chose the exhaust path. The good ones are too small for our trucks and most of the bigger ones I have seen leak enough that I personally wouldn't want them.

I have seen an exhaust system advertised in Hot Rod magazine for Camaros that has a Y ahead of the muffler. That system uses a 3 bolt flange on one side that has changeable plates to control the sound. One plate is solid and forces the exhasut through the muffler. There are several plates with different size holes for different sounds. You can remove the plate to run it without a muffler.

I don't see why you couldn't do something similar in the last elbow as the exhaust turns up to go through the floor of the bed. Either remove the elbow and put in a T or cut, fit, and weld and make your own bypass. I would keep the baffle plate close to the T. You can run anything you want behind it! You might have to invent a plug to put into the stacks to force the exhaust out the bypass. Wouldn't be automatic, but should work well.

Whitmore... the stacks get EXTREMELY HOT just driving normal, my buddy has stacks and they are just warm, totally different...

I may just bypass the stacks in the summer time :( , and use them only in the cooler months when not towing.

have a welder weld on a threaded 3. 5" weldolet at a 45 deg. angle no big deal uncap when you dont want to use stacks. wrap sewer blow up tubes in tin foil stick in the stacks and role!

How about the truck, cmon a white truck with stacks!!!!What were you thinking?I think a coat of OD GREEN would look nice, then add a set of non-directional tires,Oh and then the black boat. . :D

Hey I have a set of those non directional tires for the taking. If someone wants the come & get em. Got stacks on juniors truck - won't let him tow the boat. No I don't want a black boat either. But I do notice a little black fogging on the right rear of my boat from my truck. Simple Green seems to take it off ok.

I prefer the horizontal exhaust, exiting infront of the right rear wheels, pointed up into the drivers window of a rice burner. Works good when an International truck is in traffic with a dirty air filter. :{

I have been working on the same project for a few weeks now. I originally wanted to be able to switch while driving from straight piped stacks, to a rear exhaust with a muffler. This design ended up too complicated and required 2 4" valved to operate in sync. So I decided that noise control was my biggest concern so I opted for a single valve design that allows me run the exhaust through a muffler or straight pipe with the pull of a cable mounted on the floor by the 4 wheel shifter. The exhaust will always exit from the stacks so this design will not help you much with your boat problem. I did find a source for a lever operated 4" butterfly valve that i plan to use. The valve has been back-ordered for over 4 weeks. As soon as I get it in my hands I will let you guys know if It looks like it will hold up to the heat.

U with stacks fess up...

any of you pull 5er or even tag trailers? Do you get much sooting on the trailer? I haul trailers from manufacturers to dealers, have been thinking I would do stacks. My trips are usually between 1 and 2k miles. Will I have to be washing soot off the trailers afore I deliver them? Maybe I'll change my mind about the stacks. I know there's a problem if pulling the same unit all the time, I never see the same trailer twice.

Butterfly valve

As an experiencent you could use a air conditioning damper butterfly vale, it would leak some by into the stacts but you cable oberate it from the cab.

I saw some electrically controlled gates on Jannetty's site. Maybe something like that and then some turn downs under the middle of the bed will help.

I will have to look at the air damper valves at home depot. Maybe the can be beefed up to work. I also looked into the marine "silent choice" valves but they were very expensive and may not be able to handle the heat as in marine use, they usually have cooling water injected into the exhaust

Torque This

You may want to tale alook at the Street Pro 4" Power Master exhaust cutout ---they are not cheep but ther were designes for the diesel market --- let me know what you think. You can see them at www.streetpro.us I would be very interested in your opinion (good or bad). Thanks!

On commercial trucks with flat beds and some dump beds, they shoot the exhaust into a box built under the bed to heat it in the winter time so things don't freeze and stick. Most that i have seen have the exhaust going to a valve box to direct it to the bed for winter time or out a regular turn down for use in th summer. Mabie something like this would work?

Steve-

It'll depend on how much your truck smokes with the Edge and injectors you have, and if any rain or water from washing the truck got inside.

The CH Mack that I drive, doesn't smoke much at all. I don't have a problem with soot on the bullrack. The outside of trailer doesn't get washed very often. Boss doesn't usually give me enough time to do that.

Water in the stacks can be a problem sometimes. If it is washed off before it's dried on, it comes off OK.
