Happy!! New TST Owner....

I found a source for 4" electric controlled butterfly valves. I installed one in the up pipe to my stacks and the other in the tail pipe just in front of the rear axle. They are controlled with two rocker switches in the cab. works great when I pull the stacks to slide in my camper, I can just close the valve and never have to climb under the truck. It is also fun to be able to direct the smoke!! Last but not least it works as an exhaust brake with both valves closed. If anybody is interested I will see if I can find where I got them. I think the price was around 125+- each. I will take some pictures if any one is interested.

I think it was DMH performance. I just looked it up and I paid $175 per 4" valve that included electric operation, wireing harness and switch. So far I am very pleased with them.

There just happens to be a co in Birmingham, Ala that makes a device the does just that. It was designed to install in front of the muffler, bypass the muffler and re-enter the tailpipe behind the muffler. They were at our last shop day and one of our members had one installed. Instead of the by-pass he just dumped the exhaust under the truck. It would work very well with what you want. The tube size is for a 4 ". The controls are installed inside the cab with an electric switch. It works very well. If you would like their phone number, let me know.

Torque This doesn't have his stacks on- didn't know he had a 5"?

... but i did see a 5" T cutout pipe at Berubes, but it is manual control.

Yup, no more stacks. They were killing the boat and the soot chunks getting on the bed and fenders with any kind of moisture were eating into the clear coat. I spent about 5 hours per side wet sanding and buffing out the stains.

Now I have a straight pipe 5" system that is great for staining other things!! :D

You could use a remote mount exhaust brake (or two)... not the cheapest route... but it wouldn't leak too much at all.

On edit: I should have read the whole thread before I responded and made a crude drawing.

I tow a lot of different trailers and I get soot on all of them, does'nt matter and I have the exhaust come out in the stock location. Are stacks that much worse? I towed a boat from inglewood, ca to fall river, ma and it was a bit sooty when I got there, good thing it was shrink wrapped! :-laf
