trying to figure out a way to keep my cross bed tool box and still run stacks. I know i could just slide the box back to fit the stacks, but i would rather not take up the bed space. i was thinking about cutting the corners out of the tool box? i know i would then also have to rediesign how the box opens. anyone done anything like this or have any ideas/suggestions?

Modifying the box is a pretty big project, but if'n you've got the metal and a tig machine then it's just good fun.

My box is simply slid back enought to accomodate the stacks. A fitted box would be a show winner. Which way your lid raises will determine if/how you have to cut it too. Go for it. And post photos. ;)

When i was looking at stacks the thing that was holding me back was the toolbox issue too. What i had thought about doing was getting a toolbox for a small truck , that way it would fit between the stacks without being slid back any. I did some checking on box sizes and i think it would have worked, but i went with 4'' duals instead. Randy

i've thought about the smaller box, but it really wouldn't save any bedspace because the T pipe would be above the bed so the box would still have to sit behind that. i think i'm going to attempt to modify the box i already have. it has enough space underneath it to accomidate the T pipe, so i'll just have to modify to get the stacks by it. i don't have a tig, but i've heard a mig with aluminum wire works pretty well. i'll post pics when and if it works out.

Slide it back EEEEEEEWwww.YUCK . Plus I like closing the tail gate with the four wheeler atv in the box while pulling the bumper hitch stock trailer. I don't have stacks yet on this pickup. My past pickups had flat beds on them. A lot easier to fit stacks. I will be customizing my tool box to fit around them when I get the stacks after the new year.
