2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Stacks? Yes or No

I have stacks and need help deciding if i should put them on or not. Some opinions from people who have them would be great. I carey a very nice sled around and am worried about the soot shower.

Well, I don't have a 2nd gen or stacks, but I think 2nd gens with stack look cool. I like the mitre top stack. Not the turnouts so much though. Does your sled have a cover? Maybe you could get one? Good luck.

On my '02 2500 I used to have 7" mitre cut stacks and they sounded pretty good and looked good too. I took them off and still have them in my shed. If i ever get another 2nd gen truck I will put them back on as they are cool and also sound awesome when started up.

I have the same question. I've been thinking about putting a single mitre cut with a fancy chrome flapper on it to keep the rain out :-laf . I pull a 24' boat and would rather not deal with soot all over it. I'm guess the bulk of the soot will come from moisture and rain getting into the stack, maybe the flapper will help with that.

Flappers on stacks get made fun of around here. They work and do their job just look dorky. Make them self draining which helps with the soot but you'll never stop all of it. I'd have them but couldn't get the truck in the garage and the black on the ceiling everytime I start it is a problem too.

I had 6" stacks on my '01. They were awsome! I got alot of compliments and they sounded really cool in tunnels. I'll never forget seeing all the kids with there faces plastered to the car windows and the big smiles on there faces when I drove cross country a couple of years ago. Easy to install as well.

Mehh, I've never been much of one to care about that. If they wanna make fun of something they can pick on me for my Lightforce offroad lights on the headache rack that look like a set of Mickey Mouse ears. Or my freakishly large head .

blackclouddiesel.com sells some nice kits, but they're a bit pricey. The ChromeRoom does as well, and I think their a little bit cheaper. Can't hurt to check with any local exhaust shops either. I myself would really like a set of those new Silverline black chrome stacks, but they only go up to 5" and I'm looking at getting some 6 inchers.

I got my 6" chrome turnout stacks from a local truck shop. They were used, but you could not tell by looking at them. I paid $20. 00 a piece. The rest of the parts came from Motor trucks in Mt. Vernon, Wa. Check local truck wrecking yards. You might be lucky and save some money.

Im really just concerded about the soot getting all over a=every thing that i have in the back of the truck if i have anything in it. And will anything take the soot off.

J hook is just a way of holding the wastegate shut on a hardline plumbed wastegate like my 01. 5. Same one as sold by BullyDog.

he soot isn't that bad. I had my truck out overnight in rainstorms and it would blow some soot out but not a huge amount. Soap and water take it right off. It would bet on the bed sides and in the box a little. Usually I would put some trash bags over them if it was raining hard. The wet stacks hold the bags on pretty well.

i had stacks in my old 95 and put my brothers brand new raptor and dirt bike in the back, drove 150miles and took off the now black sheet that we put over them to protect them and both were black from front to back, even stained some of the white plastic on the raptor. a sled cover is a little thicker though. personaly, i love the stacks, but i thought i would give my 2 cents about it.

I'll say first I love mine but I did tow my white scooter on a trailer and covered the thing in little black spots. They come off easy but they get everywhere, especially when it’s raining. I'm sure how much fuel you're putting through the truck would make the biggest difference.

got 5 incher's on mine... luv the sound and the diff they made in perf. and mpg. Oo.

you dont get soot that sticks to anything if you dont let em get wet inside. . raincaps or I use coffee cans when i am washing or parked for the night. truck smokes a lottttt and i pull a white 30 ft 5th wheel camper. . long as i dont let the stacks get water in em I get no black on my white trailer... the smoke doesnt stick... just wet soot
