where can u buy stacks for ur truck? i see ppl all the time with them but i look allover online and i cant find anyone who sells them. im guessin everyone is getting them from tractor supply stores... .

thanks~

Find either a heavy truck dealer's parts department and ask questions about the exhaust stacks and piping for heavy trucks, or--

find a heavy truck accessory store. Be aware you will have to do your own fitting and fabricating since most of the muffler and tailpipe places are afraid to do anything other than replace a stock exhaust system with stock type replacement parts. Since stacks on a pick-up are such a "one-of" deal, I don't think anyone on the net would be able to sell you a kit that will do what you want. Then again, I've been wrong before.

Also; get someone who at least likes you to read your posts and edit a bit for you before you put it on-line. Anyone who owns a TurboDiesel has GOT to be more conversant with the English language and a keyboard than your question shows. ;)

If you come up short on ideas or sources, send me a PM with an idea of what you want and I can share my experience with the 5" stack on my '97 BR3500 flatbed dually. :-laf Brad

thanks for the iwoa website i found exactly what i was lookin for and for some reason i only thought of tractor website not semi websites but i found a good deal on a straight stack for the dually and i can go to an exhaust shop the the rest of the under the truck elbows and pipes that i have to weld myself. thanks for your help guys!

Look in my sig. for My Truck and it will take you to a stack parts list and pix's of the install.

Good Luck

Cliff

cool site man i like the pix and that is an interesting way of doing a stack job and i am impressed all though when i do mine im only going to do one 5 or 6in stack on the left side. thanks for the info and keep the dodge runnin!

Ok i have another question say you have a four inch pipe and another four inch pipe and to connect them you dont want to weld or use an extiorior connector to they make "invisible" intirior connectors by any chance?

well, say, if you're connecting two 4"OD pipes together, you could use a short piece of 4" ID pipe and then use crimp style clamps. or, you could use bands clamps to clamp the pipes together.

oh i'm sorry, i guess i didn't fully read (or comprehend  ) your whole post there. maybe doing the reverse of the crimp clamp thing would probably work as long as the inside short pipe doesn't move when you put the main pipes together.

I have also been thinking of stacking my truck, i did a search and came up with this site: www.flexatube.com, i emailed them but as of yet have not gotten any reply, either that or i got an email and my pc put it in the spam bin, anyways their prices seem really reasonable and they have all the hardware anyone would need. If anyone knows of this site let me know and what have your responses been as far as service etc;... .

I have noticed in the pulling rules and regulations they useually want your stacks to point straight up or if you still have the original assembly you have to have your turndown pointed stright at the ground. On my truck the way it is set now is the exhaust goes in front of my dually wheel but not stright out becuase under the truck i have the 4in piece connected to a 45degree instead of a 90 so do you thi9nk i would need a turn down tip for it? And with the stacks I dont want straight becuase i dont want to have to worry about covering it everytime it might rain.

If you connect to your stock exhaust with a flex pipe, it will allow collected rain to drain out for the most part (I have a 3inch stainless steel flex pipe). My exhaust goes from 3inch to dual 5 inch stacks & water doesn't pose a problem. I have slight turn outs at the tops of my stacks pointing out at 45 degrees. In heavy rain they do take on some water (if the truck is not driven for awhile) that gets blown out during heavy acceleration though. It makes a interesting rain pattern on the sides of my bed.

Once I put in several gallons of water with a hose. Nothing happened at idle or driving moderatly, but when I Really got on it, I produced horizontal black rain along with my smoke! I Had to wash the truck bed sides, but no sign of any sort of damage or issues with the truck.

You could also drill a 1/8 inch weep hole at the base of the stacks if your concerned about water.

Does anyone know about the Stack Silencers they make for Semi's? They look like upside down Christmas trees that go in the stacks... . or some other way to cut the noise down a bit without adding the muffler back in?
