I am trying to find out some info on stacks. We are wanting to put stacks on a buddys truck. I have spent the last day doing searchs on stacks and have not really found what I am looking for. Does anybody know is there a company out there doing an exhaust package for stacks? Has anyone posted pics with details on what they ordered and how they ran the stacks on their truck? I talked with Gateway Cummins and they have books I can look at to order parts.

Greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks, Brad

The EASIEST thing to do would be to contact Rob Thomas. He's manufactures and sells some SWEET one's. I think they are relatively spendy though... but NICE.

I did my own on my last truck. The easiest way is to route the 3" pipe up through the bed floor and put on a wye pipe (4" - 6" pipe with adapter). I cut a hole in each corner of the bed and routed 3" pipe to each one under the frame. That left the bed open for hauling full sheets of plywood or whatever. They sounded really good. If you choose this method you can have any exhaust shop do the 3" pipe work for you. Another company that sells a kit is stylinconcepts.com. The add says they have heat shields as well. I have no idea on the quality of the components. I haven't heard any complaints about the kit from Rob Thomas though. If you want an easy kit to install yourself I would get his. If you want to do this cheap, build your own from truck shop parts.

I made a set for a friend.

Parts:

5 - 90° 4" elbows

2 - 4"-5" adapters

2 - 5" stainless sealing band clamps

2 - 5" stacks of your choice

several feet of 4" pipe

Cut the back out of two 90's, and weld them together in a "T" shape. cut off 4" exhaust below bed and install elbnow turning it up. Cut hole in bed for it to run though. Add pipe to bring it up, weld on your custom "T". Add pipe to each side heading for the bedrails where you'll put a 90 on each end turning up. Go up some distance and put on your 4-5" adapters then slip in the stacks and clamp. Figure out how to support this whole structure and you're good to go. Only thing I'd do diffrent is add a flex pipe underneath to allow for some twist in the frame.

Yep, I'd agree with both methods above. One of the neat things about Rob's set up's is that he uses 4x6 box steel to attach to the bed. Then you attach the stacks to some welded on pipe on either side of the bed, and underneath. . to the right of the driveshaft. Look up user "Got Smoke?". He used box steel as well, and has some good pics of the set up in his readers rigs.

Good luck!

Andy

EDIT:

Here's the pics of Mark's box steel setup:

Like Chris (Turbodiezel) said - I got mine through LSFarm (TDR member). They were very easy to install and included all the parts required. Contact him.

I build all my stack setups with the Y pipe or the entrance of the box one rib from the center of the bed. you have to use an additional elbow to route the exhaust up to it, but it makes the smoke perfectly even. my first setup came up over the exhaust, and I didn't like how one side started to smoke before the other.

I like the box crossover like Rob's, but can the box be mounted under the bed. I would rather have it out of the way with the stacks going through the bed in the corners.
