Stainless Rocker Panel Opinions?

Ok, I asked this question a year ago about the SS rocker panels (stick on) so here it goes again for any one with them installed, 4 questions if you could please

1) What brand or cost?

2) How long have they been on your truck?

3) How are they holding up?

4) Would you do it again?

Thanks to any one who replies.

1) Can't remember the brand, but the cost was around $300 installed.



2) About 16 months.



3) Still look good although the part behind the rear wheels are a little dinged due to 500 km of gravel in the NWT. Don't use wax on them. I need to figure out what to use to polish them up to a mirror finish again.



4) Yes, in fact I had them on my 96 gasser for 4 years and they were still good.

I have the Northwest Custom "Cummins Power" SS rocker panel covers on my truck. Cost me $225 plus $25 shipping from Washington to northern California back in October 2001. They look as good today as the day I installed them I would do it again in a heartbeat! Jason maked excellent quality products.

My truck had stainless rocker panels on it when I bought it so I have no idea who's they are. I hated them. With all the salt they put on the roads here I had to polish them each spring - which took forever. The worst part was the corners ended up bending and cutting into the paint of the truck causing corrosion. I took them off and had the rockers and inside of the wheel wells sprayed with bed liner material - haven't regretted it for a second.

Northwest Customs here with "DODGE" cut out in them. About $250 if I remember (almost 3 years ago). I love um, especially right after a polish, only thing I'd like to do different is a better install of the rear pieces (behind the rear wheel). Had a hard time to get them to stick at the edges because of contours so they stick up a bit but it doesn't bother me.

What do you polish them with? I've found that chrome polish doesn't work.

I think mine are DeeZee. Been on since the truck was new in April 2000. Still look great. Would do it again.

You should be absolutely positive that you want them to stay because they ruin the paint underneath them. . There's a TSB about air or moisture being retained under clearcoat when the paint is covered for long periods that makes non white colors turn blotchy milky ugly.



I bought a truck that had them thinking it'd be no problem to remove them. Boy was I wrong.

I just wash mine and use Turtle Wax on them.



Also, the parts of the rocker panels that are not covered by the panels, I put Herculiner on myself, so if I ever remove the panels, I will just Herculiner the entire panels. No worries for me about what they do to the paint underneath

anybody tried clearing a set before installing? i cleared my valve cover after polishing and it turned out good. it did fade a little i think with the clear but over all it worked out well.

I have them on my truck and they have been on for over 5 years, still look good and no they have not fall'n off. My came from Northwest Customs and yes I would do it again. They do not make the rockers only cut them. I am not sure fo the company, but I think it might be steel hourse.

They do not cover the whole to the bottom you have painted area underneath them

Your question sounds odd, but I think I know what you are meaning. There are several companies that make these rocker panels. And they are offered in various widths, I believe they go from 6" to 12" in width. Obviously the wider ones will cover the most, but even they allow some of the body to show Thur.

Reason I asked how much of the truck they cover is because I saw a Ram in a drive yesterday it was Patriot blue and the bottom half looked completely covered by chrome rocker panels. It looked really nice and that is the look I would like to have. Do you know the names of the companys that make them?

There are several companies out there that make them. One is called QMI, I am not sure about the others. The full width is the better one in my opinion, but they sell them 6" to full width.



When you order them just make sure you get the size you want.



Stylin Concepts sells them and I am not sure if it is there brand or someone else's. They look very nice and are made of HD 434 stainless steel.



If you would like some custom lettering cut into the panels, Northwest customs offers this service and they are very reasonable, this is where mine came from.

I have had them now for 5-6 years and have had zero problems. They are so well made, I am having the truck re-painted and decided to leave them on. Good luck.
