Was looking at the routing of my OEM brake lines. They go through a metal bracket that is "rolled over" to hold the line. For those who have purchased SS lines, did you use the existing bracket? If so, how did you get the OEM hose out with out tearing up the bracket? Has EGR addressed this with their kits? Tahnk you in advance for the help.

A quick visit to the EGR site or a call would have answered your question. EGR makes all their SS/Kevlar brake lines complete with all the necessary brackets installed. They also make lines with stock and custom lengths to accommodate any height of a lifted truck. When you choose to buy the best, all the extras are included.

My EGR lines came with all the proper backets. The rt side was initially wrong, a call to Glenn fix that. We swapped lines in the mail and I was off again. The reason for the problem: Dodge did a parts change and did not inform any of the suppliers.

I had essentially the same issue with my EGR lines as Dan did. The passenger side bracket wasn't going to work as supplied. The hole to mount it on the frame was in the wrong location. However, all I did was drill another hole to the left of the original one and all worked out fine.

Beyond that, everything fit exactly as specified and expected.

My only other problem was getting the new lines to seal up and not leak where they connected to the hard lines at the brackets. On the first one I torqued it down till I thought I'd strip something. Then I called Glenn. He said to snug them down good, then back them off, then snug them down, then back off, etc. Do this 4 or 5 times. This gets the mating surfaces inside the fittings to re-adjust to the shape of the new lines. Did that on the others and have had no leaks to date.

One last suggestion: get some flare nut wrenches for these. It gives you much better "bite" on the nuts.

It wasn't my bracket but the connectors.

Thanks! for the tip on the connector mating. I did not know that one.

I have flare nut wrenches. Thanks to a tool budget.

My wife set me a budget, I try to spend according. Pretty soon I will have to start thinking about a larger rollaway. :) I have been looking for a place with a shop for a while. 'Outgrown the garage. ;)
