Just a quick post to see if anyone out there is running a Stainless Steel oil filter. I have been pondering the thought of doing so myself, and figured I would see what everyone else had to say on it. For those of you who dont know anything about them here are 2 different company sites that sell such things.

www.gopurepower.com

www.ultraoilfilter.com

So far I am thinking they dont look to bad. From what I have heard the USPS has switched to these in all of their vehicles and the military is looking into them fairly intensly at the moment. So to all of you out there that use these leave me a note to tell me what you think of them... ... .

I like the idea of reusable , but for a after market filter [ did not check $$$] I would want much smaller micron filtering , I'm not sure but it seems to me that the dualbypass that I got 2nd hand is down to about 3 micron , so paying a premeum for a filter that does not do a better job does not sound like the way to go , maybe someone could tell what the micron of the average filters are.

I looked at doing this a while ago and posted it here like you did. After i looked farther I also came to the conclusion that they were too much and not small enough micron filtration. A genos filter kit is cheep and does like 6 oil and fuel changes. I change the fuel filter with oil change. cheep insurance.

Why??? A traditional filter is cheap and works well!

Those filters are pricey and do not filter as well as a regular filter. I would not risk it, it is not a show car and it is only an oil filter, not a chrome valve cover. How long are you keeping the truck? Oil filters are about 10 bucks each, change oil every 7500miles. every 100k miles you will need about 13 filters... 130 bucks... an ultra filter is like 100 bucks right?? Well, more protection and less cleaning is worth 30 bucks to me...
