I bought a 1995 2500 4x4 about a year ago and finally broke down and decided to go through the trans. So I got the transmission pulled apart and it had to have been overhauled not too long ago judging by the clutches and front band. One thing I noticed is the converter has the original numbers Xed out and a new number stamped on it. The old number is 21899, the new one is 34805. Normally I wouldn't care, but the truck acted like it had a higher stall than stock converter in it and if it did, I don't want it back in there. Anyway, any info on this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Stock stall is too high. Or, if you want it said a different way, tooo loose!!!

How much tighter you go depends on how much power you make and what you do with it.

Torque peak is around 1700 and that is a nice number for stall.
Problem is stall is directly related to the torque numbers and it is easy to double the stock numbers with a Cummins.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll put a billet single clutch in it anyway just to be safe, the truck just feels a lot softer than any other Cummins I've driven and when I saw the converter renumbered I thought that might be why. Anyone out there familiar with these numbers?

The truck sees some light towing but nothing that would require a triple disc (although I'd love to put one in if they weren't so dang expensive). I've built quite a few of the RH and RE transmissions, and so I'm well acquainted with the different upgrades But I as far as converter ID numbers, I only have access to the Dacco numbers and my Transtar guy couldn't figure them out so I was hoping someone here might have some info.
