What harmless and safe method can one determine torque converter stall speed? Does standing on brake and throttle for a moment give a tach reading that is somewhat correct? Or put another way - with a stock engine with 235k and running well what initial rpm should show on initial acceleration from dead start without holding brake on? With light throttle how much rpm drop should one see at 45mph lockup? Does lower stall speed converters affect that? My new one drops about 250 rpm on lockup and initial full throttle from dead start appears to run up to about 1800 rpm.
