Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Stalling after lite throttle

98 12v DTT auto with 91% TC, 370's & HX40 is stalling while in gear after light throttle usage. I already know the TC is too tight, but it shouldn't make the truck stall.



Fuel return hose has been replaced. No visible (or smell of) fuel leaks. Timing is at 16* (haven't double checked yet) Idles at 7 to 800 in gear and around 900 in park. Fuel mileage is around 13. 5 to 14. 5 most of the time with exception of a long trip where i'll average about 19 close to 20.

may sound stupid, but it just may need a bit more idle, i know the numbers you gave are right, but even my suncoast soemtimes did that, especially in the winter time.

Mine stalls some times if i have the air on and turning the wheel. To bad there isnt a simple idle up solinoid that could be put on connected to activate with the air conditioning pump . Arnie

A tight TC with an idle that is just a touch too low will do this.

Thats what i've been thinking, but another thing is when i first start the truck and let it idle for 2 mins or so, i'll put it in gear and it'll lope like crazy.



I'll bump the idle up a little more, hopefully that'll help

Same thing, the idle is just a touch low.

I'd bet you're right, and i'll try it. My oldest bro. lives near big rapids, so when i'm up in that area we'll have to meet up and settle on the cold soda.

I'm also having a m&g at my house May 18 & 19, you're more than welcome to come.
