Hey guys,, Hope yall can help me out.

I'm a 24V guy, but my neighbor has an early '98 truck, identical to mine, except a 12V.

I'm not experienced with the 12V motors, but he had two questions for me, both tto which I had no idea. I hope yall can help me help him. :)

1. How hard to change a fuel filter? I told him pretty easy, but I'm not sure with 12V's/

2. His truck stalls. Example... Say he is slowing in gear,, and he pushes the clutch in, the truck will stall, or if he is backing up and with the RPM up (off of idle) and pushes the clutch in the truck stalls.

I personally feel his idle might be to low. It takes a second or so to crank, and thumps real soft at idle,, compared to my 24V that sounds like it's running away.

What would 'cause his truck to stall under those condiions?

Should he idle up a little? If so what RPM? (750?)

Should he replace his filter?

Tell me what's up guys,, I'm very unfamilar with 12V's.

Thanks in Advance,

Merrick Cummings Jr

My old truck , a 95 wouldn't even idle at 750! Put it in gear-auto- and it would die.

Set it up a little higher. And if he doesn't know when or hasn't changed the filter for 20,000 mile do it. But most likely if the filter is full he will have a low power complaint more than idle.

When they raised my idle to specs they also replaced the fuel lines (I had mentioned my boost went from 38 to 34) it did not leak but sucked air. The truck would stall at the light every once in awhile .
