I am confused to what is going on with my 12 valve. When I run the AC and at a stop light for example, I stall when I hit the accelerator (I have a auto transmission).

I found this out when I took my foot off the brake and hit the accelerator and the car in front of me slowed down, naturally I had to let off the gas and hit the brake. My engine stalled 3 times today in similar situations. Is this related to a slipping transmission problem? Could it need another Valve Lash? ANy help would be appriciated. I just wonder if this is an issue.

I'm with illflem on this one. Do this;put your truck in drive, turn on your a/c and while stopped in gear what is your idle rpm speed? It should be by the hash mark just below the 1000 rpm mark - about 750-800 rpm. A little over the mark is better than any amount below it.

I think its unanimous—up that idle stop. You'll need a 10mm wrench (I like box over open end). Shoot for just under 1000, AC on and A/T in D (set the PB, don't be a Darwin), otherwise even if you don't stall, you'll have to listen to the check gage bell at each red light!! Be sure to snug the stop nut back up against the casting (yep - up - its upside down) cause there's a whole lot a shakin' goin on!!
