I've heard the same thing but I have never tried it. I don't know anyone around here that stocks it and I've just never got around to ordering any.

I have used the Stanadyne Performance formula in my '97 Dodge CTD since it was new and plan to continue using it in my new 2004. 5. You can read about it at http://www.dieselpage.com/additive.htm . (Not soliciting, just giving you some info to study. ) Read the link titled "Why use a diesel conditioner" too.

It might just be wishful thinking, but I feel like the engine runs smoother and performs better. I remember when I bought my Banks Stinger Plus for my '97 the Stanadyne was highly recommended by Banks at that time and I have confidence in their engineering (wish their prices were a little softer) ;)

Can anyone tell me if Stanadyne is good stuff? I was told it was the best diesel additive you can buy... .

Good stuff !! I use the stanadyne PF It seems to idle a little smoother. I haven't noticed any increase in mpg. But I have a bit of a heavy foot

An interesting story about Stanadyne, for what its worth...

A few years ago in the TDR magazine, an article was done about diesel additives and highlighted a product from Amalgamated, Inc. They make diesel additives in huge volumes for fleet use and so forth. Many of you are familiar with that issue, I'm sure.

I called Gary at Amalgamated and ordered a pail (5 gal) of the "TDR blend" at that time. I asked him about Stanadyne. He said Amalgamated was originally chosen by Stanadyne to provide the additive to be sold under the Stanadyne label. However, when Stanadyne got the "bill", they thought it was too much (too sophisticated of a formula - too much stuff in it). They wanted it "simplified" to save $. Amalgamated wouldn't do it. So Stanadyne found another source. The stuff you can get from Amalgamated is what Stanadyne didn't want.

At least, that's roughly how I remember the conversation went. In any case, I've been using Amalgamated every tank full since that article came out. So far so good. A couple of times I've run a few tanks in a row with no additive. Didn't see much mileage difference. But the engine seemed a little louder after the first tank. Could be my imagination.

Since you'll want to know, a 5 gal pail goes for about $90 to your door (lower 48). That was as of the last time I ordered it (last spring). I use 1 oz to each 3 gal of fuel, roughly.

Search for Amalgamated and you'll get a evening's worth of reading, though a lot of that is folks wanting to know how to split a pail or how its working out in daily use.

I have used Stanadyne in the last two CTD's I had. Just got the truck in the sig, and don't have any Stanadyne riight now. It seemed to make the engine run a little smoother and a little stronger. Had thought about splitting a pail of the Amalgamated when I found out about it, but never did. If someone in the area wants to, I'd split one. It would take me a long time to use one up by myself.

I have been using the Performance Formula since I got my first one in 91. I get it from Diesel Injection Service in Lubbock. Been using it in the VW NB TDI too.

I have been using it for 1 year. It works for, better performance, and milage. And I think that the mighty cummins even is quiter...

I have used it for about a year now and I have noticed a difference in the (lower) under the hood noise. Not as loud as before using it. I also went about a month without using it (stupid Hurricanes) and I noticed a difference there also. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to throw that VP44 a bone since it has to put up with my driving and the lovely south Florida weather.
