well... i gave installing a bhaf filter into my 04, and when i first got the filter, i thought it would never fit, but after looking and test fitting for a few minutes [like 30-45min:rolleyes:] i decided to start trimming. i removed the battery on the pass side and the battery tray to see things better [didn't take pictures of that though]. i trimmed out the plastic inner panel behind the battery tray that has the molded in part for the factory air box snorkle. i also trimmed off the one mounting ear off the battery tray that the factory airbox mounts to [the one closer to the fender]. after reassambling everything again, i dry fitted the filter and it seemed to fit ok. the bottom of the filter is resting on the pass. side headlight adjusting device. it clears the alternator by about ±1/2" it is close, but shaking the filter around by hand and it doesn't touch it. i made a mounting strap for the filter from some 1/16" lexan with some foam tape on it that i had at home. and it is screwed into the battery tray and it holds the filter pretty well.

the turbo is a little bit louder than the factory airbox with a 4" hole in the bottom, and seat of the pants performance feels better. i wasn't expecting any performance gains [i wanted turbo song :D] but it does feel like it's got some more pep. down low it spools a bit quicker and gets to max boost quicker.

as for egt, hard to say. last time i made a run watching the pyro was when i first installed it, and it was a cold wet rainy day [5-6°C] and i could hit 1100°f. today i went and did the same pull i did last time, but todays temps are much hotter[28°C and humid] and i almost saw 1200°f near the redline. but crusing speeds egt looks to be a bit lower than with the stock air box.

i have pictures, but they are a little slow at being uploaded to my webshots gallery. i'll post a link when they are up.

Congratulations Nick on taking the lead in the BHAF game. I have wanted to do it, but have not taken the time to put toward it.

Hey Nick, how did the passenger side battery tray come out? I was going to remove mine a couple weeks ago for some other work but stopped when I realized you need to take out the wheel well liner to get at the lower bolts for the tray. Is that true, or was I seeing things wrong?

there is the 4 bolts on top that you can see, and then there is 2 more under where the wheel well liner covers. a few of the wheel well liner screws are attached to the battery tray. i didn't take the liner out, just took all the screws out of it and let it sit on the tire.
