Transmission,fluid change

FF1381,you didn't say how many miles you had on your vehicle,or if you towed,I changed my transmission fluid at the 10,000mi. mark,I tow a heavy fifth wheel trailer an my own personnel experience,I thought this would be an acceptable mark. I also have a H0/6-speed:)

IMO, yes. Put a fastcooler on one side and a PTO filter on the passenger side and you'll have a happy NV-5600. Get a drain plug for a 95 Dakota 4wd transfer (nv-3500) case, it has a strong magnet in it and is a perfect fit for your fill plug. This will allow you to "see" what is happening inside your 5600 without taking anything apart. Throw away the gaskets that come with the PTO filter and Fastcooler and use silicone. Ask me how I know

A lot of people say to use silicone rather than gaskets for the PTO covers. But to be honest, it seems to me that gaskets would be much easier and less messy than silicone. Are they really that prone to leakage?

And while we're on the topic of gaskets, if I wanted to pick up a set can anyone recommend a convenient place to get them? Somewhere online would be most convenient.

Anyone know the size of the nut or tool needed to get the tail shaft off of a 5 speed? I need to do the real seal on the transmission.
