Steering Column Lock

I can't believe this.

:(

I just installed my front Northwest Mudflaps. I wanted to turn the truck around and have the backend in the garage. I turn the key but the steering coloum is locked. I can turn backwards and have power. But front to start is totally firm. I don't want to bend the key. I also tried the spare key. No dice. I even started this truck several times to move the tires so that I could drill holes and mount the flaps. the rear tires are barely in the garage. Could the way the wheels are on and off the curb so to speak have anything to do with it. I jacked up the front and no change.

what gives????

You probably will have to really force the steering wheel more in the same direction as they are already turned. then turn the key to start.

You need to unload the steering wheel lock. Horse the steering wheel more to the turn ( it is trying to go to center) away from center. With your other hand try the key. Or have your S. O. try the key while you horse the wheel. Don't feel bad I learned this from FORD cars. Can occasionally happen when there is a lot of load on the steering wheel lock.
