start up codes?

Does anyone have info on start up codes? In particular I suspect my 06 mega cab isn't going through a warm up on remote start in the morning, probably never selected when the dealership installed it.

Also Id like to kill the seatbelt bell.

I figure both of these could be flashed some how,,,any thoughts?

There's no way to kill the seatbelt chime, that I'm aware of, other than modifying the seat belt latch itself.

What do you mean "warm up on remote start"? Do you mean idle-up? If so, it will only do this automatically if the underhood temperature is below 59° and the truck is idled for 2 minutes.

Ditto on the seatbelt chime. Only way to defeat would be to jumper the switch in the latch.



Common Rail needs very little time... no glow plugs. I can't even remember which light to watch anymore. If you see a little red "dot" staying on during remote start, it's not the "wait" light, it's part of the security/sentry key and it's normal (no need to wait for it to go out). Check your manual to be sure you're not worried about the wrong indicator.

What I meant by remote and warm up was: When I activate my remote start on cold days, shouldn't the remote activate the "heat cycle" the way I would,i. e.
hold the key on for a minute or so before engaging the starter.
It seems it starts immediately then lopes a bit until it warms.
Was thinking it may have been offered as a value to be selected by the technician when it was installed. Perhaps it was left at default, all of that is just a guess, precious little of value in the owners manual.

The normal install setup for Diesels is to activate a 30 second pre-heat timer in the remote start module. Your installation manual shoud describe how to set it (assuming your installer actually gave it to you). If not, take it back to the dealer and tell them you need the pre-heat delay set. The same remote module is used for gassers and Diesels, and that's why there is a selectable funciton.

so on the 06 you can not turn off the warning buzzer for the seatbelt like I did on my 04. 5 that is crappy.

According to the owners manual in my '07 we can still silence the seat belt alarm. I'll have to try it.

Annoying Seatbelt Chime

Look in your owners manual There are instructions to stop the chime and disable the horn beeping when you lock your doors which comes in handy when your'e trying to sneak in late at night Its something to do with turning on your key and clicking the seat belt on and off three times if memory serves me correctly I think theres a link in TDR somewhere that will give you the precise instructions Now if I could find a way to disable the annoying chime that lets you know the key is in the ignition
