Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Start Up Squeal?

For about a year or so now I have what I assume is a belt squeal every time I start my truck. The weather conditions make no difference. I changed the belt out for a GoodYear GatorBack thinking that the OEM belt was the problem... . no difference.



I know others have this too because I have heard it before at different events... Kaufmans... Muncie... etc...



anybody got a clue? it is driving me nuts...



I do have the Practical Solutions HD Idler Pulley on it. It has been installed for about three years.

Not sure what your truck squeal may be but I do know many road tractors squeal every time the fan clutch kicks in. Could take off the fan and see if it still squels. Dick Reynolds

Check your A/c compressor. The Clutch may be frozen in the engaged position

Is the spring in the tensioner still good?

i would remove the belt and turn everything that the belt goes around. see if everything turns freely, dont forget the water pump. while your at it is there any thing coming out the drain hole at the bottom of the water pump?
