Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) starter acting up on a 98.5 diesel

Have A Friend With A Standard Transmission. He Has To Stomp The Clutch Several Times To Get The Starter To Run. . Any Ideas What All Could Be Wrong And How To Repair This Trouble???? Doc

Maybe the clutch switch and maybe the starter contacts... ... You have two wires going to the clutch pedal switch..... The switch is either normaly closed or open... . unplug the wire to the switch and see if it starts if no go put a jumper wire across it... ... if this works the switch is bad or out of adjustment if any... .
