Does anyone know of a source for starter brushes? I did a search and found a mention of Larry B but could not find him or anyone else who sells them. E-bay has them for Sterlings Packards and GM. I've made the people at the parts store make that "You want what?" face enough. Point me in a direction please.

He sells the brushes you have to solder/ look cheap to me JMO. If this is no biggie to you, then nevermind. I would look for a starter/alternator shop nearby or shop that sells Nippendenso parts, ask for brushes. Or carry in one of your old brushes for comparision etc. I think the generic Nippendenso part number is ns-4. These are the real deal starter brushes, already soldered to the clip, you simply unscrew your old brushes, screw these back in place. I have some pics of a worn starter in my gallery. The last set I bought locally was in a non-nippendenso package. Like a generic/fits all package. The first set was genuine Nippendenso. Both looked the same and work the same. Amazing what a new set of brushes, oversized contacts and plunger do for starting one of these trucks. BTW all of the above can be had from a starter shop as well.

Sometimes we gotta get up outta the computer chair and make a phone call or two or talk to a person at a shop locally:p. We might save a buck or two, might learn a thing or two versus buying online or clicking a box:).
