Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Starter clunks before start.

Just got done with Truck 911. . Now I got the truck to run. . Still Waiting for new apps from MWFI. Code p1693? I just changed VP44, Lift pump, Filter And put new 300hp injectors. While bleeding the lines, and cranking over the motor, I think I hurt the starter a we bit. Oh what the hell,, its only money... . Now when I start it makes a clunk befor start, but starts right up... Going down the road is a different story, untill my new apps arrivesNo other codes. .

Get your self a set of Larry B's contact. They are twice the size of the factory ones and that will probably solve your problem.

Is it clicking or clunking? Clicking is usually the solenoid contacts.

Clunking sounds like a loose starter or internal problem.

The nice thing about the starter is that it can be rebuilt without too much trouble. The biggest problem I had was getting to the top bolt when I did mine.
