The starter contacts on my 2021 Ram have just gave it up at 25k miles. I thought this problem was behind us a long time ago. I can't find any rebuild kits for the newer models. OR, does the older Denso kits work on the newer starters. It's under warranty, but the dealer can't look at it for two weeks.

Contact RAM cares. And again, everything man-made can fail. That's why you have a warranty, not to spend your money on it.

My 04 is still on the factory starter, as well as probably 99% of the members rigs here at TDR.

I just want a quick fix. Not driving it because I don't want the contacts to weld shut and burn down the truck.

Any experience out there on the $190 starter motors available on Flea-Bay? Denso's made in Japan.
Look at: 68444755AA 0-Mile 2019-2021 RAM 2500 3500 6.7L Diesel Cummins STARTER

Prior to "supply chain" issues the local Cummins parts desks had good local references for starters new not rebuilt.

Edit. Local rebuild shop not a bad option.

Always worth a call if your shopping around.

Some places keep decent stock.

I am having a hard time with this. Are you certain? Do you have remote start? Is it possible your key fob battery is weak? I don't understand these high tech electronics, so I am asking.

Mechanically, it don't make sense.

Classic - the starter contacts make a loud click and about 5-10 seconds later the engine cranks. Or never cranks and you have to try the start sequence again and again. Worst case is that the contacts finally weld together and the starter runs until the fire starts.

This is my fourth RAM/Cummins, just bought my fifth.

I am fully aware of what can happen as i have corrected two 98's and a 01. May be worth pulling it apart.

I would contact LarryB 253-225-9962 or fostertruckparts.com He is VERY knowledgable!!!
