I need to replace my starter. Anyone know what type wrench I need? My 3/8 is too small and 7/16 is too big. Is this a special bolt?

Its a 12 point bolt head, 10mm if I'm not mistaken. ;)

It along with a lot of things on Dodge trucks are METRIC, so standard wrenches and sockets won't always work. ;)

If you've got a metric socket set then you already have one. It's just a regular old 10mm socket. There are 6-point and 12-point sockets in most sets. You'll also need a 6" and a 3" extension. Don't be scared!

I used a special extra long 10mm box wrench to do mine, the regular 5" long 10mm I had wouldnt move the bolt. I got it from sears, was 15$ i think, its about 8-9" long.

If you're having starter problems, first thing to check would be the contacts. These are very well made starters, the only real wear point is the contacts, which can be had for less than 35$. much cheaper than a whole new starter. Just did mine a few months back, I got a lot of clicking, then it would start. The contacts were well cooked. Whole job took about 1. 5hrs. .

good luck

That block plate is quite amusing. The starter threads, and the threads for the cover letting you get on the torque converter bolts are metric (M10 x 1. 5 and M8 x 1. 25 respectively). The holes for the bellhousing bolts are threaded 3/8 x 16.
