Starter Noise

hey guys, I have a 2007 5.9 G56 stick 4x4 with 136K on the odometer now. jumped in to start it up and go to work and it made a strange noise while the starter was engaged. Almost sounds like it was starting and then the starter disengaged and re-engaged all at the same time. Funky and did not sound very good. truck started so I drove to work. time to go home and acted normal. continued for 2 weeks with no issues and then started doing it again. It's hit and miss. most of the time it's fine at start up, and other times not happy at all. Is the starter selinoid taking a dump or is it something else??? My 1998 went over 200K with no starter issues at all and it had the 5 speed stick. As always you are my go to guys, you have never steered me wrong. thanx in advance for any clues.

If i had to guess id say you solenoid is tired.I'd look to a place called Larry B's. They sell up- graded rebuild kits with directions or brand new starters with good prices and good service.

While you can find their stuff on Amazon or eBay, I do believe that Genos Garage sells the LarryB starter repair kits.
