93 w350 diesel starter problem... new starter relay, new positive battery cable, starter tested and working, . . new fusible link to starter relay... ... still no solenoid clicking or start... . Where do I look next?
I actually bought a rebuilt starter but then took the old one to auto electric place for testing... . they said it worked fine but showed indications of power surges so since I had cable with me he found where battery connector was cracked... . so I got a new connector and put the old starter back on..... no clicking of solenoid so I will try suggestions and then update my post... I always have a backup rebuilt starter if I need it.
I checked neutral safety switch, it was ok... . and them jumped solenoid to battery, starter cranked but not engine... . then jumped solenoid to battery with ignition key on and starter and engine fired up..... thought it was connector from solenoid to battery to relay but it turned out to be just the wire from solenoid to connector..... although completely taped to starter positive cable, the solenoid wire was previously pieced and was now loose..... I replaced just solenoid to connector wire then circuit was fine..... engine started ... ... . thanks for all the helpful advice.....
