Got a friend who has a 95 12 valve and is having starter problems . I know this has been addressed in one of the past TDR mags. I need to know which issue number and where I can locate the article. I have every mag since day one but dont know which issue this problem was addressed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

PS. I could probably go into the archives but being computer illiterate cant figure out how to do it.

If the starter is hanging up or wont work at all then it needs new contacts which are easy to do and cost about $15. 00. Anyplace that rebuilds starters will have the parts. pull the starter, open the solinoid, undo the 2 nuts, replace contacts and put it back together. Its obvious what to do once you get started.

Good luck

I had been having problems with my starter sticking and on ocassion it wouldent crank.

from the advice of others on the tdr i replaced the starter contacts and plunger and have since had absouletly no problems

Lary b has a kit with oversized contacts and a plunger (what i used)

when you see the old contacts you will know why you are having problems one side looks brand new and the other is over half way worn down.

hope this helps

larry b's

I bought larry's new starter with the over sized contacts installed and a new set of contacts for my old starter to use it as a spare... . it's good to have the piece of mind that only a new starter can bring.
