I'm starting to get some intermintant starter problems, so I am going to try Larry B's contacts and plunger. Unfourtunately in my 33 years I have not had the "previledge" of replacing a starter.

After I have the starter off and repaired, does it just bolt right back up or do u have to shim and adjust to get it to engage correctly?

Any tips on removal, doing the repairs and replacement would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

J-

Disconnect the batterys. From underneath, the starter bolts (3) are fairly easy to remove. I used a 10mm socket and extention to get the top one and a 10mm box end wrench for the lower bolts. There are no shims. I did mine and a local starter shop installed a much heavier contact than what was original and a new solenoid plunger.

Piece of cake - Just remove, follow Larry's install instruction for the new contacts and plunger, then bolt back in. Like earlier indicated disconnect the batteries first.

10 mm 12 pt. socket should do the trick plus an open end wrench... . just follow the directions that Larry B. provides and things should go rather smoothly. . unless the same gorilla was used to install your starter from Dodge. . #@$%!

Those little 10mm 12pt bolts were a pain to get loose. The Larry B's parts are definitely the way to go. Do the solenoid plunger and the contacts while your at it.

Speaking of the contacts... I saw the same exact thing that Larry sells on eBay for 1/2 the price. Anyone look into those?? I hate spending more $$ than I need to!
