I'm in the process of changing my fuel filter for the first time and while doing it I want to replace the return and supply hoses. Getting the filter off was no problem but, removing the hoses and clamps is a real PITA. It looks like if I remove the starter I then can get to the hoses and clamps much easier - what I need to know is what size and type of wrench or socket is needed to remove the long bolts that hold the starter on. I don't know if a 12 point socket will work or if it's a special like a torx type.

Any info will be much appreciated!!!

I've found it easier just to remove the two nuts that hold the brake master cylinder on then swing it out of the way towards the drivers side. This along with removing the fuel filter will give you enough room, no need to remove the starter. Another trick I use is just to cut the old clamps off with wire cutters and replace them, much easier than fooling around in that cramped space.
