Anyone have a number for the pig tail connector going to the starter as the signal wire (I assume it's a signal), It's a brown burgundy-ish color with a gray connector. This is a single wire connector.

I was installing a battery cable kit from Geno's and I needed pliers to get this connector off to transfer it to the new wire set. Low and behold Chrysler plastics got me again and the connector locking tab got crunched and no longer holds.

Anyone know how many other vehicles use a Cummins 4090084 starter then? Same starter will need the same ignition wire.

pictures for reference of the connector

Pricey little bugger...maybe a trip to the dealer and see if they have one in a kit.....

BTW, I used my '06 for the schematic. If yours is a different year verify that this will fit.

Many thanks.

It should be the same; starter was used from 03 to 06 or 08. I wasn't sure if it was a Cummins or Mopar part. Discount Mopar Parts has it listed for 66.00

If you don't mind me asking how did you find this p/n? I was looking on Cummins' website with my ESN to no avail. Mopar connector to a Cummins starter.

I'd go to a parts yard but there's a Cummins hoarder 15mins away from me that has the South East locked down when a 2nd or 3rd gen hits a yard.

The connector website is connectors.dcctools.com. Before I spent $66 for that connector I would replace it with a generic automotive connector. Local Napa may have one or Amazon.

Stan, can you peek behind the curtain to see whose brand of connector that is?

I’ve tried many times to replicate Mopar connectors in DTNA but no joy. We use mostly Packard / Delphi on the Freightliner and Western Star trucks...

Do automotive connectors have a separate identification number by manufacture or style? I was struggling to get any hits on amazon, I'll try NAPA but I hate being that customer walking in with a part and saying "I need this" without any numbers to ID it.

I used to have access to a parts screen when I was still working that showed the vendor information. I'm limited now to the info I can access. We're at the western TDR event now, but I have a business card at home

If anyone else is looking to source this part on other vehicles, I was at pull a part looking around for some misc pieces and there was a third gen mega cab 1500 with abs that had this connector in the driver most corner of the engine bay on the fire wall. It had a single yellow wire and I assumed it was related to abs because of that. unfortunately the plastic was baked and it cracked in the same way as my current connector when I tried to pull it.

Try findpigtails.com.
We found them at SEMA and they can source thousands of connectors. They are not cheap, but if you need it and want OEM they may have it.

I'll check them out, I'm going to first fire today after getting everything back in, depending on their prices I might just ziptie it in, I'm spent at this point with this truck.

Edit: just checked the site, and they don't have a year range for 03, unless I can find another vehicle with this connector it's back to square one. Oldest they had for a 2500 was 09' and I'm pretty sure that's beyond the cut off of the model years that used this starter.

I went through their single pin connector list, the 1500, 2500, Dodge pick up truck tabs and no dice. I'll try shooting them an email about it.

I’m tied up right now, but I’ll post some screenshots so you can see all the vehicles and applications that connector kit is used on. Will ease your search...

So what model is an "ND" you ask.....

Look here in the beginning screen....and BTW, the Grey connector is used from 2005 to 2021 Diesel trucks for the starter...
