Replacing my starter solenoid contacts today, it appears that my ball is missing. I was very careful opening it on the bench.

Could the ball still be stuck in there, could I throw it back together without balls. If I need to go buy it a new ball, what size could it be? Any help would be appreciated.

Oversize contacts cost me $2. 00 in Fort worth for those in the area.

You should be able to see the ball down in there with a flashlight. Quite often they are stuck in there with dry grease. If you need a new one a starter shop should be able to order one for you. 8. 7mm dia, ND part#76-82802. If you cant find one let me know, I'll send you one no charge.

LarryB, thank you very much for the offer and the specs on the little ball. Part number and all, ain't the TDR great!

I think it must have been stuck in there, I put the starter back on and it cranks like a big dog now.

Two new 'red top' Optimas, new alternator, new battery terminal ends and new starter contacts, it had better start!

Thanks again,
