Hi to all,

I recently started having a problem with my starter solenoid fuse blowing. I Have a 2000 Ram 2500 cummins 4x4 quad cab 6 spd std. trans. short bed. A couple of weeks ago I went out to start my truck and nothing happened when I turned the key. I checked the batts. ( both good), checked the clutch switch (good also) and then just for grins I checked the fuse compartment under the hood. I noticed the started solenoid had a 20 amp fuse and discovered that it was blown. I replaced the fuse and the engine started right up. All was cool for about 3 days and the same thing happened again. During the past 2 weeks the same thing has happened 3 more times. Each time I replace the fuse it starts right up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I suspect I may have a bad starter. Any advice? Thanks. BJesik.

My 00 did the same thing. Get new heavy duty contacts from LarryB. You can install them yourself and you're good to go. My old contacts weren't completely worn out but were rough and sticking. Believe me they will blow the 20A fuse. Some TDR members say to go up to a 25A fuse when you replace the contacts.

Lots better than buying a new starter! LOL

Thanks a lot for the valuable info. I was going to go out and buy a new starter but instead I found LarryB online and ordered the contact kit. Saved me a LOT of cash. BJesik.
