Starter solenoid?

I have a co-worker who has bought a 06 3500, it will not start now, if you tap on the solenoid it will then start. Stealership has qouted him a $700 price tag on a new one. Anybody here have the same problem?

I've put in a ton of contacts. I haven't had to do it on a 3rd gen yet, but the starter looks the same.

I will ask him. It has 38000 miles on it, they say out of warranty. I thought it was a different starter on third gens?

It may be different. , but it looks similar.

He went and traded it! Then the guy found a loose battery cable! What an idiot. .
