Cylinder Heads New 335.00 dollars

Great guys at SmokinDiesel.com

Just curious if any one knows where i can find the strongest starter for the beloved 12 valve. Reason i ask: I work on ground equipment. One of the generators i work on is powered by a 12 valve cummins (good choice) with a huge generator hard mounted to the flywheel. Generator turns with the engine. Starter turns over both. That is a lot extra weight for a truck starter to constantly turn over with the engine. We go trough a lot of starters. A beefy starter is what we need. Any pointers??

Thanx

Justin

Contact Larry B. He advertises in the TDR. or has in the past. Havent read my latest issue I recd in the mail today to see if he has an advertisment in there. He seems to be the starter guru for the Cummins.

I have seen on case backhoe example 780 had a 6 cylinder turbo charged engine, b cummins It has a large oil pump on the front of the engine. The starter is 24 volts. The alternator is a delco 24 volts. I use the same alternator on my JohnDeere 4020 but a different pulley.

If I could not find a way to make the starter work I would go to 24 volts.

good luck Jim
